Several years ago Mexico, NY was hit by a devastating ice storm. In a relief effort, the Maine Fire
Department sent our brush truck with manpower to assist the Mexico Fire Department for several days.
Through the years, the two departments have remained close and we attend each others events such as
the Mexico Field Days and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade here in Binghamton, NY. As a result of the
tragedy suffered by the Mexico Fire Department of three untimely member deaths this year, we have
grown closer than ever. They have become a second family to us, referred to as the “Mexican Bandits”.
