Joe M. Vargason
(1931 – 2001)
This memorial is dedicated to Joe Vargason and the members of the Maine Fire Department, Fire Company, Emergency Squad and Auxiliary.
Joe answered his final alarm on June 30, 2001. Joe sacrificed the ultimate, his life, for the Maine Fire
Department and the community that he so loved. Joe was a Life Member of the Maine Fire Company and had
served his department with dedication for 23 years.
Joe was a devoted family man and he was blessed with a loving family: His wife Aline, daughter Jo – An,
daughter and son – in – law Darlene and Henry Bowell and a very special grandson Zachary.
The Board of Fire Commissioners of Maine Fire district No. 1 wants to extend its sincere gratitude to Joe
and the members of the Maine Fire Department, Fire Company, Emergency Squad and Auxiliary. We know that
you put your lives on the line every time you respond to keep this community safe.
