| Maine Firefighter becomes career firefighter |
On Friday night at 7:00 P.M., Maine firefighter Jon Wasicki graduated from the training academy in Anne Arundal County, Maryland.
Jon competed his 7 month training and is now a probationary firefighter along with the rest of Class 48. He is now an official career
firefighter and will serve his shifts in various stations for about 6 months before being assigned to a permanent firehouse. Jon took
the firefighter exam in Ann Arundal over a year and a half ago along with 2 other local fellow firefighters from Endwell FD, Matt Winchell
and Mike Meta, who also graduated as part of class 48 on Friday night. The ceremony was attened by nearly 1000 people. In attendence were
numerous friends and family, as well as maine firefighters Lance Egan and Kyle Pomeroy. A huge congragulations to Jon for his countless
hours of study and training and for his dedication to the fire service both in Ann Arundal county and in the Town of Maine, and as keynote
speaker, Fire Chief John McGrath of the Raleigh N.C. Fire Department stated, "welcome to the last job you will ever have."
