| RIT 1407 Training Program - 7/20/2010 |
Maine Fire participated in Task Force 1's “ RIT 1407” training program at Choconut Center Fire Department. The training program started off with a classroom session Saturday morning, but quickly became an intense hands on training over the course of two days. It is a two day program, June 26th and 27th. that is designed to follow the new NFPA training requirements for Rapid Intervention Teams, also known as FAST teams. The program brought together members of the Northern Broome FAST team ( Maine Fire, Whitney Point Fire, and Choconut Center Fire), along with members from South Corning (NY), East Haven (CT) and Browndale (PA) to learn and practice new skills in rescuing a firefighter who is in distress for any number of reasons. The program was instructed by Lt. Jason Blake of Montgomery County, MD Fire and Rescue Department, Chief Ron Richards from Wayne County, PA and Jim Ogle from FDNY's Truck 14.The program proved to be a challenging and educational experience for all involved.
