| Bus Accident Extrication Drill |
Saturday, October 21, the Maine Fire Department, with the assistance of Maine Emergency Squad and Glen
Aubrey Fire Department, participated in a bus accident extrication drill.
A school bus was overturned on top of a mini van, pinning a mock dummy victim in the van. Once stabilized,
Maine Emergency Squad members and explorers were told there specific injuries and then placed throughout
the bus. Maine Fire and Ambulance were then dispatched as though it were an actual call.
The purpose of the drill was to better prepare the departments involved for working together with a bus
accident or an accident involving multiple victims. It was an excellent training that everyone was able
to learn from. A special thanks to all who participated and to the Maine Emergency Squad Explorers.
