| Maine Goes to NYC for St. Patricks |
Saturday, March 17, 2007, The Maine Fire Company Honor Guard accompanied the Broome County Celtic Band to this years
Saint Patricks Day Parade in New York City. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, being surrounded by the echo of
the crowd bouncing from building to building and throughout the streets. From the staging area all that could be
seen was a sea on marchers and fellow firefighters. Once en route marching, FDNY could be seen for blocks carrying
343 flags to honor each fallen brother who died on 9/11. As we marched past the St. Patricks Cathedral, the Cardinal
could be seen outside watching the parade with the thousands of other bystanders. At the conclusion of the parade,
the Honor Guard spent the afternoon leading the celtic band into various Irish pubs throughout Manhattan and meeting
many interesting people from all over the country who were visiting NYC for the holiday.
