Busy Night For Maine Fire

Saturday. April 21, at 12:15 A.M., Maine fire was dispatched to Church St. for a residence filling with smoke. Assistant Chief 33A arrived on the scene within minutes and reported light smoke coming from the house. Engine 33-2 arrived shortly thereafter with a crew of 4, with Pumper-Tanker 33-1 immediately following. Crews immediately went to work searching the home with the thermal imager to find the source of the smoke. Meanwhile, mutual aid arrived from West Corners, Union center, and Glen Aubrey Fire. The source was found to be a malfunctioning furnace and the power to the furnace was shut down. While crews were cleaning up, Maine Fire was dispatched to assist Glen Aubrey Fire on Swan Hill Rd. ,for a one car rollover with entrapment. Maine crews quickly returned the apparatus to the station and manned Rescue 33-6 with 7 and responded. Upon arrival on the scene, Command 47 reported a code black, meaning it was a fatal. Maine Fire remained on the scene for nearly 3 hours to assist with lighting for the police investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation, the victim was extricated and Maine Fire returned to quarters at 4 A.M.
