Maine Firefighter becomes career firefighter

On Friday night at 7:00 P.M., Maine firefighter Jon Wasicki graduated from the training academy in Anne Arundal County, Maryland.
Jon competed his 7 month training and is now a probationary firefighter along with the rest of Class 48. He is now an official career
firefighter and will serve his shifts in various stations for about 6 months before being assigned to a permanent firehouse.

Maine firefighter receives Broome County Firefighter of the Year Award

Leiutenant Kyle Pomeroy of the Maine Fire Department was awarded the William Grace Broome County Firefighter of the Year award Friday night for his
heroism in saving the life of a gasoline tanker-truck driver. Kyle took none of the credit himself. "Knowing I had our guys there to help
made this go much smoother," he said, accepting the honor at the Endwell Fire Department at the Broome County Firefighter Association Meeting.

MVA - Car into Creek on Rt.26

On Friday Morning at 7:00, Maine fire and Maine Ambulance were dispatched to an mva, car over an embankment and into a creek, on rt 26
in the hamlet of Maine. Within minutes, Rescue 33-6 and Engine 33-2 arrived along with Assistant Chief 33A, as well as Maine Ambulance.

MVA - Tractor Trailer Rollover

On November 27, 2007, Maine Fire was dispatched to assist Glen Aubrey Fire with Rescue 33-6 for a tractor trailer rollover
with entrapment on Knapp Road in the Town of Nanticoke . While enroute, a nearby off duty law enforcement officer arrived
on the scene and reported “one victim stuck in the vehicle.” Rescue 33-6 arrived moments later and found the victim to be
in much worse condition than previously reported...

Fatal Plane Crash

At approximately 5:05 PM on Tuesday afternoon, Maine Fire was dispatched to an Alert 3 Alpha at 156 Knapp Road.
An Alert 3 Alpha is the highest alert that Binghamton Regional Airport officials can issue, indicating that a
plane carrying a small number of passengers has crashed. An Alert 3 automatically tones out numerous departments,
both fire and EMS, including Maine Fire, East Maine, Choconut Center, Chenango, Castle Creek, Glen Aubrey, Engine
98, Maine Ambulance, and Union Ambulance. Crews arrived to find wreckage scattered over a small wooded area about
a quarter mile off Knapp Rd.
